Everyone talks about GPU cooling, liquid cold plates, and high-RPM fans. But there is an important part inside every AI data center that rarely gets mentioned: the Blanking Panel.
AI servers consume massive power. To prevent overheating, data centers push cold air through the front of the rack. However, if there are empty slots, the cold air takes the path of least resistance and escapes through the gaps instead of flowing through the servers.
Blanking Panels are thin plastic covers that snap into these empty slots. They force the cold air to go throughthe equipment, not around it. Without them, even the most expensive cooling system fails.
These parts are usually made from FR-ABS or PC/ABS. In the AI industry, fire safety is the top priority.
Material: Typically use UL94 V-0 rated compounds.
Finish: Most clients request a matte texture (VDI 24/32) to hide fingerprints and scratches, keeping the rack looking professional.
Many buyers think a flat panel is easy to mold. It is not. The biggest challenge is Warpage (Twisting).

A 1.2mm thick panel, 400mm wide, will warp like a banana if the mold cooling is uneven. We use balanced water lines to keep it flat within 0.3mm. |

Flame-retardant plastics release gas. If the mold lacks vents, the panel turns brown at the edges. We cut micro vents along the parting line. |

Snap-Fit Durability |
Installers snap these in and out repeatedly. The mold must hold ±0.05mm tolerance on the hooks. |
